How to set up multifactor authentication
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) acts as an additional layer of account security, preventing unauthorized access if your password is compromised.Â
This could be a unique code that is sent to your email, or a one-time password sent to your phone.Â
Setting up MFA for your Test and Live accounts are required by Adyen.Â
Setting up MFA
You’ll be prompted to set up MFA when logging in for the first time. You can choose to use an authentication app or SMS authentication.
Using an Authentication App
Logging in for the first time:Â
Download an authenticator app if you don’t have one (e.g. Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).Â
Complete the fields and scan the QR code with your authenticator app. Tip: Keep track of your MFA setup location, as you’ll need the code for future logins.
Logging in after MFA is set up:Â
Whenever you log in, you’ll be asked for the authenticator app’s generated 6-digit code.Â
Open the app on your phone, and input the code to log in.Â
Note: The code refreshes every 30 seconds, so use the most current one.Â
Using SMS Authentication
Logging in for the first time:Â
Select "SMS authentication," enter a phone number, and complete the setup with the received 6-digit code.
Logging in after MFA is set up:Â
Whenever you log in, you’ll receive a 6-digit code via SMS to the phone you used to set up MFA.
Input the code to log in.
