How to set up your teams internally

It’s essential to have the right team in place when launching and scaling an embedded payments offering. We’ve looked at roles and team structures that have been successful with embedded payments and found the following: 

  1. Go-to-market leaders (C-level, Payments Lead, etc)  The visionaries of the company who set the strategic direction of embedded payments. This group of people understands the value of taking payments in-house and drives the business to realize the opportunity.  

  2. Commercial drivers (Sales, Account Management, Customer Success, Marketing, etc)  These teams focus on building pipeline for embedded payments and converting prospects into paying users. 

  3. The builders (Product, Senior Developers, etc.)  These teams build and scale the embedded payments offering and tailor it to the unique needs of your platform users.

  4. Support (Customer Support or Success)  These agents can be reached anytime for payment-specific questions. 

Once you have a solid team in place, don’t forget to educate. Get everyone up to speed and on the same page about the importance of payments as a core revenue driver for your business.
