How do I set up Giving in-store?
Before setting up a campaign for in-person donations, ensure that your terminals are on firmware version v1.109 or above and compatible with Giving.
To get started with in-person donations, set up a campaign in the Customer Area under Giving > Campaigns. Please ensure you are accessing the Giving section on Company level. If you don't have permission to create a campaign, contact the admin user in your organization.
Store inclusion and exclusion
You can choose how new stores are added to your Giving campaign:
-
Included by Default: Any newly created store will automatically have the same Giving configuration as existing stores.
-
Excluded by Default: The campaign will apply only to stores you manually add. Newly created stores won’t receive the Giving configuration unless you include them.
This setting helps you control whether Giving is applied automatically or requires manual selection for each new store.
Card interaction, display text, and timeout settings
The card interaction setting determines how customers interact with the Giving prompt at the payment terminal. There are two options:
One-Step Flow
- Shoppers can donate without presenting their card again after the payment.
- Most card payment methods support this option.
Two-Step Flow
- Shoppers must present their card again to confirm the donation.
- All card payment methods support this option.
Nonprofit vs. Cause Display
You can choose what the terminal displays:
- Nonprofit name (default for general fundraising).
- Specific cause name (for example, when fundraising for an emergency).
Timeout Settings
Adjusting the timeout settings changes how long the Giving prompt remains visible on the terminal. A shorter timeout helps manage queues in busy locations and a longer timeout will enable your shopper staff to engage in meaningful conversation around your Giving campaign.
Going live with in-person donations
When you save the campaign configuration, it starts in an inactive state. At this stage:
- The campaign has not yet been sent to the terminals.
- Giving will not appear on your terminals until activation.
Going Live
- To ensure Giving is available in stores on your desired start date, activate the campaign one day before by clicking: Start Campaign.
- Terminals will automatically pick up the configuration and reboot overnight, so Giving is ready when stores open the next day.
Editing an Active Campaign
-
Any changes made to a running campaign will also take effect after the next overnight reboot.
This process ensures all updates are smoothly applied without disrupting store operations.
