How can I create and use risk profiles?
Risk profiles
A risk profile is a collection of risk rules you set up and configure on your company account.Â
Your risk profile will have the bot attack risk machine learning rule enabled by default. This rule helps detect and proactively block transactions that come in at an unusually high velocity with suspicious payment properties. If you're using the premium version of Adyen’s risk engine, the fraud risk machine learning rule is also enabled by default to detect payments likely to result in fraudulent disputes.
You set up a risk profile to manage which risk rules and blocking thresholds you want to apply to payments made on your merchant account(s). You can set up one risk profile for all merchant accounts or create multiple profiles and assign them to different merchant accounts. You can update the default risk profile or create new risk profiles as you see fit.Â
You're responsible for setting up and maintaining the risk profiles, assigning profiles to merchant accounts, and managing the risk rules within them.Â
How to create a risk profile
You can create, manage, and assign risk profiles to a merchant account in your Customer Area.Â
Creating a risk profile
- Navigate to Revenue & risk >Â Profiles.Â
- Click on Create new profile.
- Fill out the profile name and choose which risk profile you would like to base your new profile on. This will create a duplicate of the selected base profile that you’ll then be able to update and customize.Â
- After you select ‘Create’, you’ll be able to view your new risk profile under the risk profile section.
Assigning merchant accounts to a risk profile
- Navigate to the desired risk profile and click on ‘Edit profile’.
- Select the desired merchant account(s) to be assigned, and click on ‘Save changes’.
Note that multiple merchant accounts can be assigned to a risk profile.
Duplicating or deleting a risk profile
Clicking on the three dots to the right gives you two options: Duplicate or Delete. By selecting Duplicate you will be prompted to create a new risk profile using the risk profile as a base. Choose Delete if you would like to remove a risk profile. You can not delete a risk profile if a merchant account is assigned to it.Â
