What is a physical card and how does it work?

Physical cards

Physical cards are payment instruments made by plastic to perform payments.

2 steps to create physical cards

  1. Manufacturing: the base cards are created and the EMV chip is added.
  2. Personalization: the base cards get personalized with account details. In addition, all chip profile elements are programmed into the chip.

Physical cards can be provisioned into digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay and Samsung Pay via manual or push provisioning.

Tip: You can request a physical card and change its status via an API call or your Customer Area.
