What is PCI PTS 6?
PCI PTS (Payment Card Industry PIN Transaction Security) is part of PCI DSS and is designed to protect cardholder data and ensure secure transactions.
PCI PTS 6 is the next version of PCI PTS that will remain valid until April 2031. This new iteration will increase the security of payment terminals by defining new requirements for hardware, software, and functional aspects. These standards are updated every four to five years to address emerging security threats and technological advancements.
Companies that manufacture devices or components for processing PINs must follow these standards. Likewise, financial institutions, processors, merchants, and service providers should ensure they use the latest approved PTS devices.
