How can I customize the checkout experience on Android terminals

Create a theme 

1) In the Costumer Area in the left hand panel, go to In-person Payments > Themes

2) You will land on the overview page. Here you will see an overview on all themes that have been created and are available to be applied across your fleet. 

Click on ‘Create theme’ on the top right corner 

3) Choose and create a name for your theme

Updating your theme content

You can update the content of your theme at the moment of creation or later on. Here we assume you have your theme assets all ready to go and are updating it during the theme creation. 

The preview on the right hand side showcases how every change will look like in the devices that are present in your fleet. 

Updating general content 

  1. Go to ‘General’ 
  2. Upload your logo by clicking on 'Upload'
    Note: Logo must be an .svg file.
  3. Choose between a light or dark mode that applies across your fleet. 

Updating content per device

You can add assets throughout the payment journey per each device in your fleet. These are the assets available (they vary per model): 

  • Home: Upload a background image or video for the home screen of the device.
  • Idle: Upload a screensaver for when the device is inactive or not taking any payments. If a user interacts with the screen the device will go to 'Home' (only countertop, non-battery powered terminals)
  • After payment: Upload an image or video for after the payment. Please be aware this will prolong the time for the payment to end. If another payment request hits the terminal the device will ignore the thank you screen and proceed to another payment.
  • Shopper engagement: Add an image or video to an already existing shopper engagement call (only larger screen terminals i.e SFO1, M450)

To edit the content on the device:

  1. Click on the device model 
  2. Click on the asset you would like to upload on the left hand side
  3. Click on Upload 
  4. Click on ‘Save’ on the top left corner 

Apply a theme to the device

Themes can only be created on company or merchant level but can be applied to store and terminal level as well. 

  1. Go to terminal settings on the level (company, merchant, store, terminal) you wish to apply the theme. Currently the same inheritance level as general configuration applies; company, merchant, store, terminal.
  2. Go to 'Customization'
  3. Click on the created theme and save changes 
  4. If websockets are enabled changes will apply in near real time to your device. You can also manually update configuration on the device. 

Changing or removing assets

It is possible to change or remove assets from the already created theme by following the same steps as 'Uploading your content'. The configuration on the device needs to be updated for these changes to take place.

Deleting a theme

Once you have created or saved a theme it is possible to delete it. 

  1. Go to themes 
  2. Click on the theme you would like to delete
  3. Click on the top right corner 
  4. Delete theme
