How can I test a rule before creating it?

The latest version of Adyen’s risk engine includes a backtesting feature that lets you predict the impact of a new rule before enabling it to affect live traffic. When performing a backtest, the rule is run on your historical data to gain insight into its potential performance.

During the rule creation stage, you’ll see the option to Backtest the rule:

After clicking on ‘Backtest’, a new dialogue box will appear. Pick a test name, the merchant account, and the date range you want to run it for. Once you have made your choices, click on "Start test."

The backtest will take several minutes to complete. Once completed, you can review the results and decide whether to create the rule.
