How does card design work?

Required elements for physical cards

When physical cards are manufactured, a card design has to be submitted. Card designs must include certain elements set by the issuing bank and scheme. The following elements should be present on the cards, regardless of the scheme:

• Card number
• Cardholder name
• Expiry date
• Security code (CVC, CVV, etc.)
• Scheme logo and hologram
• Issuing statement
• Contact details of support team card partner

Card design options

Custom

Custom requires a minimum order of 5000 cards. The card partner can create their artwork and choose between chip color, edge printing, and card finish options. The card carrier and PIN mailer templates can also be customized.

Premium

Premium requires a minimum order of 100.000 cards. With Premium, many options and techniques are available for the card design. Card schemes will always review card designs before we send them for manufacture.
