How do I know what score to assign to my risk rules?

When changing the risk score of certain risk rules it is good to keep in mind the risk score block threshold of 100 points.

Knowing when and why a rule triggers helps to determine the associated risk level. Some rules have high scoring >=100 or very close to a 100. These rules are set to block payments directly as they are associated with shopper behavior that are likely to be fraud.

It is also possible to assign a lower scoring <50 to a rule. Usually the risk level is low, but in combination with other rules the risk check could represent a higher risk scenario. Lower scores should be configured for shopper behaviors that might be indicative of fraud, but that aren’t sufficient to warrant a direct block. When multiple lower scored rules trigger in combination, this can result in a transaction being blocked. Essentially, multiple risky shopper behaviors are required for the rules to trigger and for a transaction to be blocked.
