How do digital wallets work?
Digital wallets
Digital wallets allow customers to make contactless and online payments using their mobile phone. Adyen currently supports Apple Pay and Google Pay.
3 ways to add a card to a digital wallet on mobile
- Enter the card manually.
- In-app provisioning: all details are pushed to the wallet automatically from the issuer app.
- Web provisioning: All the details are pushed to the wallet automatically from the issuer app.
Tip: Customers can use digital wallets on terminal devices or websites and apps supporting Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Push provisioning
With push provisioning (or else in-app provisioning), customers can add cards to a digital wallet from your app (card partner’s app) without having to manually write the card number in the wallet.
Provisioned cards
All physical and virtual cards issued by Adyen can be provisioned into digital wallets. We’re slowly adding more and more countries/regions to the list of supported countries/regions for using Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Tip: To set these cards up, submit a digital art and a logo for the wallets app. To enable digital wallets for cards please contact your point of contact at Adyen.
