What does “insufficient in-process funds” mean?

Do you have the right user role?

Please check whether you have the following user role:

  • Merchant Financial

  • Merchant Admin

Insufficient refund balance

You may receive the message "insufficient in-process funds when making a refund". It means there isn’t enough available balance on your merchant account to process the refund. You will see details of the balances at the time under the Transaction events widget on the payment details page for a particular transaction you are looking to refund.

Reserve

We advise you to set up a Reserve to ensure you always have enough available balance for refunds. The Reserve is a separate balance in which you can keep funds that’ll be used for refunds, chargebacks, and other operational expenses. 

Tip: You don’t have to set up a Reserve, but remember that your refunds will fail if you don’t have sufficient funds in your balance.
